Dale Coyne Racing has announced Pippa Mann will be driving the team’s third entry, the No. 63 Honda, at the 101st Indianapolis 500.
Mann will be joining the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg winner Sébastien Bourdais and last year’s Indy Lights champion Ed Jones in Dale Coyne Racing’s lineup for the Indy 500. The Briton Mann made her Verizon IndyCar Series debut at the 2011 Indy 500 for Conquest Racing, finishing in 20th place. After 2011 she has made four appearances at the Indy 500 from 2013 to 2016, all for her current team Dale Coyne Racing. She achieved her best Indy 500 finish last year, finishing in 18th place.
Like in past four years, Mann promotes the Get Involved Campaign, raising funds for Susan G. Komen, the world’s largest breast cancer organization. In the past two years, the campaign has raised over $135,000.
Mann commented her Indy 500 return: “I’m very happy to be rejoining Dale Coyne Racing for my fifth consecutive year with the team at the 101st Indy 500,” expressed Mann. “Dale has invested heavily in the team over the winter, and it’s an exciting time to be part of his organization. I’m looking forward to working with the same familiar faces from my 2016 campaign, like my race engineer Rob Ridgely, as well as working with the new members of the team, including my new teammates Sebastien (Bourdais) and Ed (Jones). I’m thrilled to be getting back on the race track this May for my sixth Greatest Spectacle in Racing”
Team owner Dale Coyne commented Mann’s return: “It’s always a pleasure to have Pippa on board for the Indy 500 and to help promote the Get Involved Campaign, raising funds for Susan G. Komen.”
“Pippa works hard every year to put together this program and to race in the Indy 500. With her perseverance and enthusiasm for our sport, it’s only fitting that we continue this relationship that started five years ago.”
28 entries confirmed for the 101st Running so far
In addition to the 21 full-season entries, Mann is the fifth part-time driver confirmed for the Indy 500. Andretti Autosport has also announced it will be running a fifth car and the newcomer team Juncos Racing will be running at least one car. Of the 28 entries confirmed so far, 17 are powered by Honda. 10 of the confirmed entries are powered by Chevrolet, and Juncos will probably also be powered by Chevy.
