The FIA has shared details regarding track limits of F1 Bahrain GP, along with changes made to circuit, DRS zones and more.

While the track limits remain white line across the F1 Bahrain GP circuit, the FIA Race Director has identified Turn 15, which, if not followed properly will result in that lap time and the lap following it, be invalidated by the stewards at his will.

“In accordance with the provisions of Article 33.3, the white lines define the track edges,” it said. “During Qualifying and the Race, each time a driver fails to negotiate with the track limits, this will result in that lap time being invalidated by the Stewards. Additionally, each time a driver fails to respect track limits at the entry or exit of turn 15, will result in that lap time and the immediately following lap time being invalidated by the Stewards.”

There’s host of circuit changes too from the last event, they are

  • Exit turn 4 gravel bed has been extended.
  • U-drains close to the racing line were closed off by cement and moved away from the white line into the runoff areas.
  • Repair of the bumps at the start line straight and turn 9.
  • Remove the kerb at turn 3 RHS (another version of the track).
  • Replace the glasses at the start and finish platforms.
  • Blue line added behind the white line at the entrance of turns 4 and 6.
  • Blue line added behind the white line at the exit of turns 2, 4, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15.

In terms of the DRS zones, the first one’s detection zone is 50m before Turn 1, with activation being 23m after Turn 3. The second one’s detection is 10m before Turn 9, with activation 50m after Turn 10. The final’s detection point is 110m before Turn 14, with activation 170m after Turn 15.

The FIA stewards panel will see Garry Connelly leading them for F1 Bahrain GP and he will have the able support of Matthieu Remmerie, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Mazen Al-Hilli. The grand prix will see six changes for this weekend’s FP1 session – all part of the rookie regulation.
