The FIA has listed the DRS zones for the F1 Japanese GP weekend along with track limits, changes to circuit, stewards names and more.
F1 returns to a normal weekend in Japanese GP at Suzuka to complete the first Asian leg before moving onto Middle East. As usual, the white lines marks the track limits, but the FIA Race Director has separately noted about dotted lines across pit exit as track edge line.
Last year, there was some miscommunication regarding the lines, but it has been cleared for this year. The Suzuka circuit has undergone some changes from the previous event too. A good amount has been resurfaced which includes gravel re-positioning at Turn 2, Turn 8 and Turn 9.
Here’s the list of the changes –
- Resurfacing between Turn 1 until entry Turn 8.
- Gravel was brought to the back of the double kerb at Turn 2, Turn 8 and Turn 9.
- Marshal posts were protected with debris fences.
- Driver exit aperture sign installed throughout the circuit.
- Extinguishers signals supported by plastic posts instead of wooden.
- New double kerb at Turn 9.
- Realignment of the white line and add a blue line at the exit of turns 1, 2, 8, 9, 14, 15.
In terms of the DRS zone, the lone detection point is 50m before Turn 16 and activation is 10m before control line. The FIA stewards panel, meanwhile, will be led by Garry Connelly, who will have the support of Mathieu Remmerie, Pedro Lamy and Kazuhiro Tsuge.
