The FIA has shared details of the Suzuka circuit for F1 Japanese GP this weekend, with changes to the circuit, DRS zones, track limits and more.
Much like Marina Bay made its F1 return last weekend, Suzuka is also doing so this weekend with the Japanese GP after COVID-19 break. FIA has retained Eduardo Freitas as the race director for the second weekend running.
The track limits is white lines as it has been all-season long with no additional note on it by the FIA race director, while the single DRS zone’s detection point is 50m before Turn 16 and activation point being 100m before the control line.
As for the four stewards, Garry Connelly will lead the panel of Felix Holter, Mika Salo and Kazuhiro Tsuge. In terms of the circuit changes from 2019, the FIA notes states bout Turn 8, Turn 10 and Turn 16:
- At T8 the track has been resurfaced for ~180 metres. The exit kerbs and AstroTurf have been removed, and a double kerb installed.
- At T10 on Driver’s left, the gravel bed has been extended.
- At T16 the existing AstroTurf on Driver’s right has been replaced by painted asphalt.
