The FIA has shared details about the track limits, circuit changes, DRS zones and more for this weekend’s F1 Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps.
The track limits for F1 Belgian GP weekend at Spa-Francorchamps remains the white lines as per the FIA Race Directors’ note, but he has marked an extra corner for drivers to be careful at. It stated: “Additionally, each time a driver fails to negotiate the exit of turn 19, will result in that lap time and the immediately following lap time may be invalidated by the Stewards.”
The note didn’t carry a whole lot changes at Spa-Francorchamps from last year, with focus on resurfacing at various parts, they are:
- Resurface racing line from 50 m brake marker board before Turn 1 to the exit of Turn 1.
- Replace the apex kerb at Turn 3.
- Grinding asphalt halfway down from endurance pit lane to Turn 2.
- Resurfacing after T15 on the RHS (to correct a bump).
In terms of the DRS zones, the first one’s detection zone is 240m before Turn 2, while the activation is 305m after Turn 4, while the second’s detection is 160m before Turn 18 and activation is 30m after Turn 19. As for the FIA stewards panel, it will be led by Garry Connelly, who will have support from Felix Holter, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Loic Bacquelaine.
The start of the F1 Belgian GP weekend saw a run for Anthoine Hubert and Dilano van’t Hof, where Formula 1 drivers came together along with Formula 2 and Formula 3 and team members plus media, for a lap around the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
