The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has announced a strategic agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance its digital capabilities. This partnership will mark a significant step in the creation of technical regulations for Formula 1 in the future.
AWS will become the official partner for artificial intelligence and cloud computing for FIA. With this collaboration, the FIA will be able to use a range of AI tools to refine its process for producing new technical regulations.
One of the notable aspects of this partnership is the use of AWS’s high-performance computing technology for aerodynamic simulations. This system will allow air flow testing to be conducted in a virtual environment, reducing costs and speeding up the development process without needing to manufacture physical parts.
Additionally, the agreement will expand the digital licensing platform that FIA already uses. This system, which has been tested in Canada and Sri Lanka, will facilitate tasks such as license administration, thus improving the organization of events by national sports authorities.
The president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, commented that technology transforms every aspect of sport, and that the FIA must lead this change. ‘Our new partnership with AWS will support everything from future cars to grassroots clubs where so many races begin,’ Ben Sulayem added.
This partnership is not new for AWS, which has already collaborated with Formula 1 management since 2018, providing tools that process telemetry data for live broadcasts, among other services.
