Toyota Gazoo Racing

Breaking news from the Belgian circuit of Spa- Francorchamps, Toyota had his first penalty of the season after the qualifying. Consequently, Fernando Alonso will start from the pole position and the two LMP1 hybrids will start the 6 hours of Spa, from boxes.

Kobayashi and Conway lap combined were 4 tenths  faster than the Fernando Alonso and Kazuki Nakajima lap combined. However, the disqualification is a lucky strike for the Spaniard driver, the Japanese driver and the Swiss driver Sebastien Buemi.

“An incorrect number at the fuel measurement was declared in the car #7 after the qualifying”. This was found after the analysis. As a result, the car will start from boxes, a lap after the rest. The team accepts his responsibility although the mistake doesn’t have any impact at the efficiency of the car. The fuel measuring of the car#7 is perfectly calibrated and certified. The team process and procedures will be stricter in order to not make the same mistakes again. Says the team statement.
