Sacha Fenestraz has secured pole position for the second race of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup at the Nürburgring in Germany. The Kaufmann driver has dominated the qualifying session with his team mate Yifei Ye – third, Ticktum will start second.
In the first group, the fight for the first position was a face-to-face battle between Dan Ticktum (Arden Motorsport) and Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP) both drivers were outdoing each other on each lap, but the Russian at the last minute and with the best time went off track at turn 5 causing a red flag.
Cause a red flag means that your best lap is eliminated and therefore the young driver from SMP Racing program was down to second place. The time to beat for the next group was 1:55.218 set by Ticktum.
The lap-time would be clearly improved by the Franco-Argentine driver, Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) who set a 1:54.741 lap after dominating the session in his group.
