The R-ace GP started the session strongly in the opening minutes of the session with Will Palmer leading ahead of teammates Max Defourny and Robert Shwartzman, with a lap of 2:07.228 minutes.
It would be no other than championship leader Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) who would break this dominance by reaching to the first position midway through the session. The French-Argentine driver with a lap of 2:06.294 would lead the standings until the end of the session.
Although he would complete an even quicker lap in the final minutes of the session, the Franco-Argentine set a lap time of 2:05.099 to finish ahead of his teammate Yifei Ye and Renault junior driver Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing).
