Felix Rosenqvist, driver of Meyer Shank Racing, will return to his hometown of Värnamo, Sweden, after his impressive victory at the 2026 Indianapolis 500. The celebration is scheduled for December 5 and will be a free event open to all families and motorsport fans.
Rosenqvist achieved his first triumph in ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ behind the wheel of his #60 Honda car, surpassing David Malukas from Team Penske by just 0.0233 seconds. This marks the closest finish in the history of the more than a century-old competition.
‘Celebrating a victory at the Indy 500 at home will be an unforgettable way to close out the most spectacular year of my life,’ Rosenqvist declared. ‘Sharing this moment with everyone in Värnamo, where my dream began, will be totally surreal. It will really be one of those moments where you pinch yourself to make sure it’s real.’
The event, organized by Värnamo Näringsliv, Värnamo City, and the municipality of Värnamo, will include tributes, interviews, live music, motorsport-related activities, and participation from IndyCar representatives.
‘Felix Rosenqvist’s success is an exceptional achievement that has inspired great pride and joy in Värnamo,’ stated Staffan Svensson, project manager for destination development in the municipality. ‘We want to provide an opportunity for the Värnamo community and motorsport fans to celebrate this victory together, demonstrating the strong sense of community and local pride that exists here.’
Anki Hansson, from Värnamo Näringsliv, added that this collaboration reflects the strong community that characterizes Värnamo. ‘Together, we want to create a public celebration that honors Felix and welcomes all those who visit our city.’
Additional details about the event will be announced later as the date in December approaches.
