Jerez testing is over, and we will not see Formula 1 on action until 18th of February in Bahrain. Now teams have more than two weeks to solve the issued found in Jerez.
The team who will need more work is the World Champion, Red Bull, nobody knows if the car will be fast, but it’s sure that it doesn’t work. Red Bull has only managed 20 laps this week, that’s what Horner says about problems: “It’s been a very difficult test. We have had numerous Renault issues as well as chassis cooling issues, which have affected our progress.” “What we have managed to learn shows that the problems should be solvable for the next test in Bahrain.” “There will now be a lot of focus on the dyno over the next few weeks.”
Today we have seen the debut of Daniel Juncadella in Jerez with the VJM07 of Force India. The Catalan driver has completed a big amount of laps and has set good times. In Toro Rosso, Daniil Kvyat has driven again, but he has just completed 9 laps.
In Caterham, Kamui Kobayashi has completed almost 60 laps, they had a bad start this week, but finally they have been able to get a lot of information about the new CT05. Meanwhile, in Sauber, Adrian Sutil has caused another red flag (in addition to the one of yesterday, when he crashed because of a driving mistake), this time, the German has spun in the chicane.
Today, the Mercedes W05 has been the car with most laps again, 92 by Nico Rosberg in the morning and more than 40 by Lewis Hamilton in the afternoon. Mercedes engine continues its great pace, with no issues, as Kevin Magnussen has completed more than 100 laps before he has spun in the same place as Adrian Sutil, causing another red flag. The incident has been in the last hour of testing.
Fernando Alonso is the driver who has completed most lap today, the Ferrari has shown a good pace and good reliability today. The Scuderia seems to have solved the problems of the previous days. The last team to arrive to Jerez was Marussia, and they are the second team with least laps (a part from Lotus, who has not attended to this tests).
Felipe Massa has set the best time of the day in the final hour, when the track was drier. The Williams is showing a good pace this week.
At the end of the day, there has been an accident involving the McLaren of Kevin Magnussen, and the Toro Rosso has stopped in the same corner at the same time, but it seems to be two different incidents (if it doesn’t, we will inform later).
