Fastest time for Rosberg in FP1

Nico Rosberg has set the fastest time in the first free practice session in Silverstone ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

This was the debut session for two drivers: Susie Wolff (first woman in an official session since 1992) with Williams and Dani Juncadella with Force India. Moreover, Robin Frijns has taken Kobayashi’s seat in Caterham and Giedo van der Garde drove Sutil’s car in Sauber. Bad luck for Wolff, who had to stop her car just after four laps due to a problem with the oil pressure. She will be back on track in the FP1 of the German GP.

Felipe Massa made the session even worse for Williams after making a mistake and hitting the wall. The session was red-flagged for 15 minutes. Marcus Ericsson had a spin and wasn’t able to finish either. Pastor Maldonado couldn’t even make a single lap after he was told to stop the car before exiting the pit lane.

Lewis Hamilton finished 0,7s. behind his teammate in the first session of his home GP. After having lost so many points in the last races, he needs a good result this weekend. After the Mercedes, Alonso has been 3rd followed by Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Vettel, Button, Kvyat, Vergne, Magnussen, Pérez, Grosjean, Gutiérrez, Juncadella, Van der Garde, Bianchi, Massa, Chilton, Ericsson, Frijns, Wolff, Maldonado.
