Farfus the fastest in a controversial qualifying

#36 Maxime Martin, BMW M4 DTM, #15 Augusto Farfus, BMW M4 DTM, #11 Marco Wittmann, BMW M4 DTM

Augusto Farfus was the fastest in the second DTM qualifying session at the circuit Park Zandvoort in Holland, getting a new BMW one-two-three with Wittmann and Martin right behind him.

The qualifying session began with the news that Paul Di Resta would not be able to take part in this due to an engine problem, suffered in the third practice session.

After the first warm-up lap, Jamie Green started leading the standings with a lap time of 1:27.673, just before the BMW took the lead with Augusto Farfus leading at half point of the session with a 1:27.475 lap-time, just ahead of his teammates Marco Wittmann and Maxime Martin.

With a few minutes of inactivity on track, Timo Glock, yesterday race winner broke the silence in search of a lap without traffic, which would not happen because he found Edoardo Mortara through his fastest lap. The German would then do the same with the Italian driver. However, this would not be the only blocking situation.

Almost nobody improved their times. Augusto Farfus secured the pole position and the three points for it, followed by the BMW of Wittmann and Martin. Jamie Green with the Audi managed to sneak into the BMW party, with Glock fifth.

Behind, championship leader René Rast made the sixth fastest time, ahead of Mike Rockenfeller and the best Mercedes, Gary Paffett. Bruno Spengler and Maro Engel complete the top 10.
