F3 2019: Lundgaard quickest on Day 2 as well at Valencia post-season test

ART Grand Prix’s Christian Lundgaard remained on top on Day 2 of the FIA Formula 3 (F3) Championship at Valencia as well.

Renault junior Lundgaard continued to build on his form from Day 1 to finish Day 2 of F3 post-season test the fastest at Valencia. Lundgaard was quickest of the day with a 1m20.860s, which he set during the morning session to be the only driver in 1m20 zone.

The ART driver was followed by MP Motorsport’s Lorenzo Colombo (1m21.012s), who was 0.152s slower than Lundgaard. Hitech GP and Red Bull junior Yuki Tsunoda was third with a 1m21.146s during the same session, 0.286s slower than the leader.

Trident’s David Beckmann slotted in fourth ahead of ART’s Sebastian Fernandez as Hitech GP and Red Bull junior Jack Doohan ended up sixth on his second day in the F3 car. The third ART of Theo Pourchaire was seventh ahead of Campos Racing’s Linus Lundqvist.

The Top 10 was rounded out by former teammates Jake Hughes and Bent Viscaal, with the former in the HWA Racelab car and the latter with MP Motorsport. Sauber Junior Team by Charouz’s Jonathan Hoggard missed on a Top 10 spot.

It was a relatively quiet day at the track with only two interruptions. The first red flag came out during the morning session, when Prema’s Oscar Piastri stopped on track at Turn 6. The second red flag came in the evening when Lundqvist and Joao Vieira stopped on track.

The former in the Campos stopped at Turn 6, while the latter in the Sauber Junior Team by Charouz’s car stopped at Turn 1. The afternoon session, meanwhile, was topped by Prema’s Piastri, who was 17th in the morning session – his time though was 0.029s slower.

In fact, majority set their fastest times in the morning session with the Top 19 ending up faster than the fastest car in the evening session. Among other notable F3 runners, Carlin’s Dan Ticktum was 14th fastest with Campos’ Enaam Ahmed 18th.

Hitech GP’s Dennis Hauger was 23rd ahead of Sauber Junior Team by Charouz’s David Schumacher, with F3 newcomer Enzo Fittipaldi in the Prema car finishing 26th, followed by Prema’s Frederik Vesti and Carlin’s Igor Fraga 29th.
