Richard Verschoor took the F2 points lead after Austria feature race win, as Nikola Tsolov wins in F3 from pole.

F2:

Fornaroli got the launch to retain the lead into Turn 1, but Verschoor was on the attack from third on the grid and went side-by-side with the Italian into Turn 3. The Dutchman rounded the pole-sitter into the corner but with the inside line, the Invicta driver held onto P1.

Josep María Martí was once again on a charge, going from P12 to fifth on the opening lap. Lap 3 and Dunne moved up to sixth following a pass on Joshua Duerksen with DRS. The Irish rookie continued his charge on Lap 6 with a dive down the inside of Martí into the third corner, but the Campos driver fought back through on the run into Turn 4.

Having lost second at the start, Victor Martins pitted on Lap 7 to fit the Softs, and he was followed in on the next lap by Verschoor. The undercut paid off for the Frenchman, as the MP driver rejoined behind his rival in eighth and ninth places respectively. Race leader Fornaroli responded to those stops on Lap 9 to fit the Soft tyres, but he came out after both Martins and Verschoor had gone by.

Behind them, Dunne and Martí resumed their fight after their stops at Turns 3 and 4, but the Spaniard held off the Rodin driver. Lap 10 and Martí dived down the inside of Fornaroli at Turn 3 and completed his pass around the outside of Turn 4. Dunne followed him through around the outside of Turn 6 to drop Fornaroli to 10th on the road.

Onto the next lap and Dunne got his move done on Martí at Turn 4, but their fighting had allowed Verschoor to escape three seconds up the road. Martins was a further second clear in the net race lead, only for Verschoor to close to within DRS range with a fastest lap. Lap 14 and Fornaroli used DRS to get within range and made a late lunge down the inside of Turn 3 to take ninth from Martí.

Onto Lap 15, Verschoor and Martins went wheel-to-wheel, with the MP driver scything around the outside of the Frenchman at Turn 4 to the theoretical race lead. At the halfway stage, Verschoor had moved outside of DRS range to Martins, 1.5s clear of his closest challenger, while Dunne was closing in on the ART ahead.

In the fight for the lead on the road, Sebastián Montoya passed Kush Maini at Turn 4 on Lap 22, with both yet to stop and still running the Soft tyres they had started on. Lap 23 and Dunne dived to the inside of Martins at Turn 4 to claim sixth place, with his attentions now on Verschoor, 2.3s ahead.

Into the final 10 laps and Verschoor had stabilised the gap as he retook the lead of the race following Maini’s mandatory stop. In the fight for the final podium spot, Fornaroli had caught Martins and forced the ART driver to defend at Turn 4, as Martí lurked behind the pair of them.

Lap 33 and Martins got a poor run out of Turn 1 to leave Fornaroli with the momentum he needed to claim P3. Their fight wasn’t over though, as with some great late-braking, Martins moved back around the outside of the Italian to retake the place. Onto the following lap and Fornaroli made another attempt at Turn 3, but Martins’ defence allowed Martí to sneak through and take fourth.

Lap 35 and another difficult exit from Turn 1 put Martí alongside him at Turn 3, but the Williams Driver Academy talent defended once again. The pair fought down to Turn 4 but contact allowed Fornaroli to get through on both for third, with Martins down to fifth place. Martí was later given a 10-second time penalty for causing the collision.

UPDATE: Following the Spielberg Feature Race, Rodin Motorsport driver Alexander Dunne has been disqualified. After the race, Car 17 was referred to the Stewards by the Technical Delegate for an alleged breach of the FIA Formula 2 Technical Regulations, specifically excessive front plank wear, with a maximum thickness of 3.37mm and 3.27mm at the periphery of two of the designated holes.

The Stewards heard from the driver and team representative, and it was determined that there was no explanation as to why the plank fell below the minimum required thickness of 4mm, constituting a breach of Article 3.2.2 of the FIA Formula 2 Technical Regulations. As a result of the disqualification, all cars that finished behind Dunne in the Feature Race move up one position each.

Finally, Van Amersfoort Racing driver John Bennett has been given a post-race time penalty. The Briton made contact with Car 9 of Sebastián Montoya at Turn 3 during the race, and afterwards the Stewards heard from both drivers along with their team representatives, and examined available video evidence.

They determined that Car 24 was predominantly to blame for the collision, and as a result, imposed a 10-second time penalty. With his penalty applied, Bennett falls from 13th to 14th in the final classification.

F3:

It was a great start for pole-sitter Tsolov, who kept the lead ahead of fellow front row starter Brad Benavides, with Noah Stromsted staying in third. However, on Lap 2, Benavides locked up into Turn 3, putting Stromsted right on the back of the AIX Racing car. The American held on, but this battle meant that Tsolov was 1.9s clear out in front.

The TRIDENT driver eventually took second place with a move to the outside at Turn 3, and fellow rookie Ugo Ugochukwu followed him through to go to P3. Benavides’ day got worse on Lap 4, with Rafael Câmara, Callum Voisin and Brando Badoer all passing him, dropping him to P7.

Onto Lap 6, and Ugochukwu was slowly closing the gap to Tsolov out in front, although the PREMA driver was coming under pressure from Câmara, who had passed teammate Stromsted into Turn 4 for P3. The Championship leader’s fightback continued on the next lap, as he battled past Ugochukwu to get to second, with his targets set on chasing down title rival Tsolov.

Stromsted was next to make a move on Lap 9, getting past Ugochukwu into Turn 4 to take P3. Martinius Stenshorne was making his way through the field after starting in P15, and with an overtake on Voisin, was up to fifth by the end of Lap 11. The Rodin Motorsport driver was soon down to P10 on Lap 13 however, losing four places to Tim Tramnitz, Mari Boya, Théophile Nael and Charlie Wurz.

Back in the battle for the podium places, Stromsted was struggling to keep Ugochukwu behind, but in trying to make a move at Turn 3, the PREMA Racing rookie lost out to Stenshorne. The Hitech TGR driver then used the DRS to drive by Stromsted for P3, with Câmara in P2 now in view.

Tramnitz’s fightback also continued the following lap, braving it around the outside of Ugochukwu at Turn 7 to take fifth place on Lap 16. Out in front, Tsolov was 4.6s clear of Câmara at the start of Lap 18, but the Brazilian was not in a comfortable second place, as Stenshorne closed to within DRS range of the TRIDENT.

The McLaren-backed driver took second place on the next lap at Turn 1, while Tramnitz took advantage of Stromsted running wide at the final corner to take P4 down the main straight. The Dane then lost out to Ugochukwu and Boya. Boya kicked off Lap 21 of 26 having just set the fastest lap of the race and dived to the inside of Ugochukwu at Turn 3 to take fifth place.

Wurz was the next to get past Stromsted, going around the outside of his TRIDENT teammate at Turn 7 to take P7 on Lap 22. The fight for the final spot on the podium then heated up on Lap 24, as Tramnitz closed to within DRS range of Câmara for third. The MP driver dived to the inside of the Brazilian to take P3.

Câmara’s struggles continued a few corners later as Boya made an audacious move at Turn 9, relegating him to fifth. Ugochukwu was next to get past the TRIDENT driver, this time at Turn 5, dropping him to P6. But out in front, Tsolov had built a lead of over six seconds to Stenshorne and crossed the line to take his sixth F3 victory of the 2025 season, closing to within one point of Championship leader, Câmara.

Tramnitz held off Boya to take the final spot on the podium, with Ugochukwu in P5 and Câmara in P6. Wurz ended up seventh on home soil, with Stromsted in P8, as Laurens van Hoepen took P9 ahead of Voisin in P10.

UPDATE: Following the conclusion of the FIA Formula 3 Feature Race in Spielberg, Laurens van Hoepen has been disqualified after breaching the FIA Formula 3 Technical Regulations. He was referred to the Stewards post-race after it was found that the front and rear tyre pressures on his car did not conform within the regulations.

After hearing from the team representative, Car 7 was found to have been outside the parameters relating to tyre pressures, with the front left, rear left and rear right tyres below the required 13.0 PSI outlined in the Pirelli Technical Preview, breaching Article 10.4.3 of the Technical Regulations. As a result, van Hoepen has been disqualified from the Feature Race results. It moves all cars that finished behind Car 7 up one position each.
