F1 has taken up the case of unruly behaviour of fans at Red Bull Ring after the social media had messages from disappointed people.
The fan environment has changed in the last couple of years, not just at F1 races but on the whole in the world. There has been several instances of odd behaviour and more has come to light at Red Bull Ring in the ongoing Austrian GP weekend.
Several of the fans have voiced their opinion on Twitter of harassment, unruly behaviour and more which eventually forced F1 to take a stand against it and pull up the organisers and race promoters with regards to the security of fans attending the grand prix.
“We have been made aware of reports that some fans have been subject to completely unacceptable comments by others at the event,” said a statement from F1. “We have raised this with the promoter and security and will be speaking to those who have reported these incidents and are taking this very seriously.
“This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated and all fans should be treated with respect.” The point comes after Max Verstappen was booed at Silverstone at several occasions, which was followed by cheers for Lewis Hamilton crashing at Red Bull Ring.
The gap between two or more fandom has increased a lot in these recent years and the intense fight between Red Bull and Mercedes led to some toxicity from both ends which can bee seen by cheers/boos for drivers like Hamilton and Verstappen.
While F1 has put up a statement along with the teams, the organisers/promoters are yet to share one on the matter but it is likely that the security would have been beefed up by now with barely hours to go for the grand prix.
