F1 shares numbers from launch event; drivers/teams speak up

The F1 fraternity speak up on the liveries they launched in the O2 arena in London, as FOM shares big numbers from the launch event.

More than 15,000 fans attended the first-ever group launch held by F1 in London’s O2 arena, where all the 10 teams showcased their liveries for the 2025 season. The 20 drivers and team bosses accompanied them in a stylish event broadcasted live worldwide.

As per the date released by F1, it states that its Youtube channel had a peak of 1.1 million concurrent viewers, with 4.6 million total viewers across the live broadcast. #F175 trended in various parts of the world on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.

The event was mostly a success and went through without any visible hiccup during the launches. Jack Whitehall hosted the event, which saw performances from Machine Gun Kelly, Kane Brown, Take That, Brian Tyler, TEMS and more.

“Tonight was an amazing event and a huge success,” said Stefano Domenicali. “As a sport we did something together that has never been done in the history of F1 before. We are always celebrating and respecting our incredible history while looking to the future to engage new fans around the globe.

“We had a packed O2 arena, passionate fans sharing their love and excitement for the sport here in person and watching around the world. We saw all the drivers and team principals on stage alongside great music and entertainment. We are now excited for the season ahead and what is set to be a great battle in the track for the ultimate prize in motorsport. Thanks to all our fans and the teams.”

There was cheer for most of them who attended but boos echoed when the governing body FIA were mentioned. There were boos also for Red Bull boss Christian Horner, while Max Verstappen and Lance Strolle gathered mixed reaction of cheers and boos.

What drivers say –

Lando Norris: “It’s great to see the new 2025 livery, which is an evolution of last year’s Championship winning colours, and I’m sure the fans will love the tradition incorporated in the design. I look forward to getting on track with it in Bahrain for testing. Having spent my whole Formula 1 career with McLaren, it felt great to be part of winning the Championship with the team, and everyone’s hunger for success remains strong. I’m now hoping to take the momentum gained across the last two seasons to compete for both Championships this year.”

Oscar Piastri: “Last year was a really positive second season for me and the team, so it’s great to see the new livery heavily influenced by our 2024 Championship winning design. I’m looking forward to the year ahead and it’s going to be a special moment in Melbourne as I race the MCL39 for the first time this season at my home circuit. I’ve worked hard in the off-season and approach the new season with a lot of optimism and confidence that it can be another special year for all involved with McLaren.”

Charles Leclerc: “I’m really excited about the launch of the SF-25. Every year we push hard to improve and the whole team has been working flat out for months now. Last season saw a really tight fight and we came very close to taking the title. This year, our goal is clear: we want to win the Constructors’ World Championship and my personal target is to win the Drivers’ Title. Since Lewis joined the team we have already been working very closely together and I believe that his experience and approach will prove to be a source of inspiration for me. I am physically and mentally more than ready to face this new season and I can’t wait to get on track to do everything I can to put Scuderia Ferrari HP back on top.”

Lewis Hamilton: “My first few weeks have been absolutely incredible and I’ve seen first-hand the passion and dedication of the entire team, so the unveiling today of my first-ever Scuderia Ferrari HP car is really exciting. So much hard work has gone into preparing for the season ahead and we couldn’t be more hungry or determined to succeed. I came into the year with so much anticipation for this new chapter, and I’m even more energised now by the spirit and belief of everyone I’ve met over the past month. I couldn’t be prouder to be on this journey with them. I can’t wait to get out on track with Charles, push each other forward and do everything we can to take the team to the top.”

George Russell: “Tonight has been an incredible event. It’s amazing to see so many fans here and sharing the love of our sport. F1 continues to push the boundaries and set the bar even higher and it’s so great to see. We’ve got a super exciting season ahead and I can’t wait to get started. The new livery looks great and both Kimi and I will be pushing hard to achieve success on track.”

Andrea Kimi Antonelli: “It’s been incredible to see so many fans here in London tonight. This is a very special way to start my first season in F1. It’s a privilege to represent Mercedes and be racing for the works team. It’s a great opportunity; I’ve been working hard over the winter to be as ready as possible and I’m excited to head to Bahrain and get out on track.”

Pierre Gasly: “This time of year is always so exciting because we are just around the corner from the season start and seeing the end result of all the hard work from the off-season. I am entering my eighth year in Formula One and I am just as excited to get the season underway as I was when I made my debut midway in 2017. I have been working hard over the winter months to prepare myself for the year and I am looking forward to getting out on track next week and getting my first feel of the A525.”

Jack Doohan: “I am looking forward to the 2025 season with BWT Alpine Formula One Team and making the step up to the full-time race seat. To have been able to make my debut with the team last year in Abu Dhabi was a dream come true and a great opportunity to familiarise myself with the weekend set up ahead of this coming season. Now I am excited to get back out on track and test the A525 in Bahrain ahead of my home race in Australia next month.”

Yuki Tsunoda: “I am hoping that my fifth season in F1 will be an extension of how the past years have gone, always making progress. I plan to nail it down even more, to be a more complete driver. By the end of last year, I had a stronger mindset and had more control than at the beginning of the season. After that, I want to be even more focused and work on improving the small margins. That can make the difference and allow us to continue fighting in the top 10, in what I expect to be an even tighter contest this year. I’ll take it step by step, but I’m feeling confident.”

Isack Hadjar: “It’s been a life-long goal of mine to become an F1 driver, so it’s surreal to be here, living out my dream. I’m not expecting it to be easy, there’s a lot to learn, but I’m so happy to be learning from Yuki who is a seasoned pro in the sport, I can learn from him everything that a rookie needs to know!”

Alexander Albon: “Tonight was great! Unveiling our new Williams livery live at F1 75 Live was such a special moment and sharing it with all our fans made it even better. The car looks incredible, and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel again in Bahrain soon. The energy from the fans tonight was unreal and we appreciate your support every step of the way. Let’s keep pushing together!”

Carlos Sainz: “What an incredible night to unveil our FW47 livery and to see all the fans here with us at the O2 Arena for F1 75 Live! The energy, passion and support you showed us is what this sport is all about. We know we’re on a journey but every day we are making steps to help bring Williams back to where it belongs, and we couldn’t do it without you. We can’t wait to hit the track in Bahrain and be sure we will give our best to have a great season together!”

Nico Hulkenberg: “A new team brings many changes, and countless small details need to be fine-tuned, which is why I’m pleased with how productive our first few weeks together have been. I’ve recognized some familiar faces from my first time with Sauber, but a lot has changed in the last ten years – and continues to evolve. There’s a great spirit in the team right now, and of course, we’re all focused on improving from last year. The road ahead is long, but our future is taking shape day by day. It feels great to be part of this journey, and together with Gabriel, I want to play my role in driving our progress forward. The off-season has never been my favorite time of the year, so I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car for testing and kicking off the season soon. I’m ready for this new challenge.”

Gabriel Bortoleto: “We have put in a lot of hard work over the winter, and I have spent a great deal of time in the factory—in the simulator, with the team, and pushing myself to learn as much as possible for the season ahead. Although our testing days are limited, every lap is valuable in helping me adapt and prepare for the season ahead. I’m really excited to embark on this journey with the team. With all the effort we have put in, I believe the C45 has the potential to make a definite step forward. Of course, we know the competition is fierce, with other teams also working hard, but we trust in the work we’ve done and are ready to give it our all on track.”

What teams say –

Zak Brown: “We’re delighted to have unveiled our awesome 2025 livery for the MCL39, which our exciting driver line-up of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will take to the track. This marks a special moment in the year as we begin the defence of the FIA Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship title. In line with McLaren’s longstanding tradition, our 2025 design is a strong evolution of the title-winning livery. We’re now looking forward to getting the season underway and are extremely grateful for the continued support of our valuable partners and fantastic fans. Let’s go racing!”

Andrea Stella: “The unveiling of the new MCL39 livery is another key milestone in our journey to go racing this season and follows on from the incredible hard work and commitment of the team towards our 2025 challenger. While we expect to see increased competitiveness up and down the grid as we enter the final year of the current regulations, we have worked hard to hit the ground running and operate at a high standard in everything we do. The aim is to keep competing for podiums and race wins in the 2025 FIA Formula 1 Championships. I am thankful for the incredible work done by the team and, in particular, for the support our commercial partners and passionate fans provided last season during our Championship campaign, and I look forward to another year of creating special moments together. The collaboration that Mercedes HPP provides the team is also incredibly valuable, and with continued hard work as a collective, we can head to track fully ready for the season ahead.”

Frederic Vasseur: “The launch of this new car is a very exciting and proud moment for everyone in the team. Months of hard work have gone into this SF-25 thanks to the dedicated efforts of everyone in the team at Maranello and we are excited to see the fruit of our labours take shape and prepare to take to the track. Last season, we fought for the Constructors’ title to the very last corner and now we are determined to build on that, starting from that solid base with the aim of winning both titles. We have a new driver line-up with Lewis joining Charles and we feel ready as a team to take the extra step required to be the best. We are aware of the challenges that await us, but we are ready to give it our all, to be competitive at the highest level, knowing we can also rely on the support and enthusiasm of our fans, who always inspire us. Now it’s time to concentrate on the job in hand and let the track do the talking. I can’t wait for this season to start.”

Loic Serra (Ferrari): “The SF-25 is an evolution of the SF-24, which gave us an excellent starting point to work from. Having said that, we have worked hard, changing 99% of the car, evolving its architecture to maximise performance. The pull rod front suspension is only the most obvious of many significant changes. We can expect the coming season to be very closely contested, with outcomes decided by thousandths of a second. We are all set to give it our best shot to find those gains, even the marginal ones, that can make the difference. We are looking forward to being competitive right from the very first race.”

Enrico Gualtieri (Ferrari): “This moment is the culmination of weeks of hard work and determination and we are very enthusiastic about the coming season. The 2025 power unit has been developed in the context of regulations that have been frozen since 2022, but we have remained as fully committed as ever to extracting the maximum from each of its components. We have worked hard on all control strategies and procedures to ensure that every component can function at every track and event. Reliability remains a top priority and we have continued to focus on preparation, quality and consistency so that we can perform at the highest level on track. The 2025 season presents some unique challenges but we are ready to face them, having paid obsessive attention to every detail. We are confident that the SF-25 will allow us to achieve our goals.”

Christian Horner: “We’re all here because we’re car fans heart and what we’re celebrating in our team this year is car culture and the people who love it. This year, we’ve got a new lineup and Max is joined by our young Kiwi, Liam Lawson. Liam brings a very exciting new dynamic to the team and we look forward to racing against some amazing competition this year in what is going to be a very close World Championship.”

Toto Wolff: “What an incredible evening and an event from F1. The sport continues to set new milestones with such occasions, and I hope the thousands watching in the arena, and everyone tuning in at home, thoroughly enjoyed it. Mercedes has a long history in motorsport and it’s an unbelievable honour to carry that baton forward. We start to write the next chapter in our story this year with George and Kimi, and we’re excited to get going.”

Andy Cowell: “We’re delighted to launch the livery of our AMR25 during F1 75 Live. It’s a unique way of involving fans, partners and also our colleagues, and it makes my first launch as CEO and Team Principal even more special. Our 2025 livery looks great and continues to showcase the heritage of the team. I’m looking forward to seeing our drivers take to the track in the AMR25 for the first time later this month.”

Oliver Oakes: “Days like this always mark significant milestones in a Formula One season. Firstly, it has been a huge effort at both our factories in Enstone and Viry-Chatillon to prepare for the year ahead. We aim to start the year with strong foundations and it will certainly be another competitive season throughout the grid. it will be important to keep making forward strides and pushing development as far as we dare all the while keeping our attention close on the regulation changes for 2026 and developing that package.”

David Sanchez (Alpine): “It has been a particularly busy winter for the team so credit to everyone involved at the factories for their work in developing the ambitious A525 car while maintaining some perspective on next year’s development. The A525 is a continued evolution of the A524 where we have refined some details and aimed to improve some weaknesses in order to find more performance. We changed direction last year, which allowed us more scope to push the limit on development and we have been pleased with how this has progressed so far. Now we aim to maximise this car’s evolution and progress the overall package in its current form as far as we can.”

Gene Haas: “We had a very encouraging year in 2024 so I’m naturally looking forward to seeing further progress made this season with the VF-25. The team really pulled together last year, both on and off-track, and obviously now we have two new drivers in Esteban and Ollie to incorporate into the team and hopefully keep us headed in the right direction. It was exciting to see the developments made last season and I’m trusting that momentum will continue to grow and translate into further performance gains.”

Ayao Komatsu: “Our motivation levels have never been higher heading into a brand-new season. To have been in the fight for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship all the way to the final round in 2024 was great to be a part of – the level of development we enjoyed throughout the year was unprecedented in our history. To be going into our tenth season in Formula 1 with the belief that we can compete, and with the team really coming together the way it did, I’m personally very excited to see what we can deliver with the VF-25. All our functions across Kannapolis, Banbury and Maranello have been working hard to ensure we can hit the ground running again in Bahrain. Our design office in Italy, under the guidance of Andrea De Zordo, have worked tirelessly to evolve the successful concept we had with the VF-24, and its upgrades, and build on those strengths and apply into the VF-25 design. We’re all eager to get going with Esteban and Ollie and get some milage under our belts prior to racing in Australia next month.”

Laurent Mekies: “I’m super excited about our driver line-up. Yuki made a very big step forward last year. He really surprised us with the progress he made in terms of raw speed, as well as his technical qualities. Yuki was an integral part of all the changes that we initiated last year and with Isack embarking on his rookie season, Yuki will be very much the team leader, and he is a vital component of our plans for the coming season. With Isack, another graduate of the Red Bull Junior Team, he has shown great speed in all categories on his way up to F1 and we are keen to see what he can do in Formula One. It has always been a cornerstone of this team’s role to bring on young drivers for the Red Bull family and over the years, we have definitely succeeded in that. I look forward to seeing how the two of them work together on track to bring great success for VCARB this year!”

Peter Bayer: “Over the last couple of years, Formula One has reinvented itself, meaning the way our story is being told, the way our fans are experiencing the sport is changing. There has been a huge increase in the number of fans who maybe don’t know much about the sport, but they’re hugely interested in what happens on track and behind the scenes. We want to push forward and engage with our ever-growing Gen Z fanbase and continue to provide great racing combined with a bit of fun and music and alternative culture.”

James Vowles: “Tonight was a truly special moment for Atlassian Williams Racing as we revealed the FW47 livery to the world at F1 75 Live. This car represents the dedication and hard work of every individual at HQ working tirelessly to get this team back where it deserves to be. Seeing the incredible support from our fans here, and around the world, reminds us why we do this — we’re on this journey together. There’s so much to look forward to this season, and we can’t wait to hit the track and make you all proud.”

Mattia Binotto: “The C45 is the culmination of months of dedication and hard work by our entire team. Every department has played a crucial role in developing this car, and we are extremely proud of what we have achieved, but we know this is just the beginning. Formula One is a constant race of development, often a case of who gets there first, and our focus will now shifts to extracting performance and building on the strong foundation we have set. We have made significant advancements in aerodynamics, efficiency, and overall balance, all of which will be key in making us more competitive throughout the season. At the same time, success is about more than just car performance—it’s about how we operate as a team, how we execute on race weekends, and how we maximise every opportunity. Our goal is clear: to keep improving in every area, to fight hard, and to lay a solid foundation for future growth.”

James Key: “It’s always a fulfilling moment when a new car is built and ready to run for the first time, after the many months of hard work, dedication and commitment from every area of the team. We have worked hard to drive our C45 development towards both established and new directions, building on what we learned last year with the C44 where we made some significant strides towards the end of the season, and fresh thinking in certain areas to release performance that we could not have found with our previous car. All of these steps have taken us forwards with a full revision of our aerodynamics, new front and rear suspension, updated cooling systems, weight reduction and improved & refined mechanical setup options. Of course, the development race never stops and performance is all relative, particularly with such an incredibly tight field, so we already have a plan in place to bring further upgrades early in the season which the team has been working on for some time. We are confident that the C45 represents a step forward and will allow us to be more competitive as we fight for better results in 2025.”
