F1 reveals six new real-time TV graphics, launch date/details of 2021 game

F1 released details of six new real-time TV graphics – one to debut in Imola – as Codemasters announces 2021 game.

F1 together with Amazon Web Services has introduced six new real-time TV graphics, which adds to the 12 known for the 2021 season. The first of the six will be the ‘Braking Performance, which will make its debut in this weekend’s Imola race.

The Braking Performance stat will show a how F1 driver’s braking style during a cornering maneuver can deliver an advantage coming out of the corner. The stat will display and compare drivers’ braking styles and performance by measuring how closely they approach the apex of a corner before braking.

Additionally, it will show the key performance metrics that lead to how the car and F1 driver perform together when cornering, such as top speed on approach, speed decrease through braking, the braking power (KWH) utilized, and the immense G-forces drivers undergo while cornering.

Among the other F1 Insights to come later in 2021, they are:

“F1 Insights Powered by AWS give fans an insider’s view of how car, driver, and team function together so that they can better appreciate the action on the track. With this new set of racing statistics for 2021, we are going deeper than ever before,” said Rob Smedley.

“New Insights like Braking Performance and Undercut Threat peel back additional layers of race strategies and performance and use advanced visualizations to make the sport of racing even more understandable and exciting. Race car technology improves all the time, and thanks to AWS, our fans can appreciate how that technology impacts race outcomes.”

In other news, F1 also revealed details of the 2021 game by Codemasters – under the Electronic Arts banner. The new edition will launch on July 16 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

The F1 2021 game will feature ‘Braking Point’, which is a brand-new story mode, where drivers will get to rise through the ranks from F2 to the pinnacle. The game will also see a return of character, Devon Butler, who made his first appearance in 2019.

The Career mode will expand to a new two-player option, which will allow one to join online and play co-operatively or choose different teams and take rivalries to the track in synchronous race sessions, where each driver will have complete control over their assists.

The career mode also introduces Real-Season Start, which will enable one to start from any point of the season with the real-time driver and constructor standings. The returning features include driver-manager experience My Team, two-player split-screen, shorter season options for both F1 and F2, ESports integration and accessible menus and handling.

“Braking Point is an exciting innovation that has been years in the making. We are proud to expand the game experience and allow players to live the highs and lows of life in Formula 1 both on and off the track,” said Lee Mather, Franchise Game Director at here Codemasters. “Braking Point transforms the game and puts players centre stage in the greatest racing spectacle on the planet.”

At the same time Paul Jeal, F1 Senior Franchise Director, added: “We are creating more choice and new ways to play. Real-Season Start allows players to align their career to the F1 season. The addition of two-player Career brings new challenges to the iconic game mode. Players can now choose to play co-operatively and share in the success or compete and strive for personal glory.”
