F1 has altered the timing of Friday and Saturday sessions for this weekend’s Imola round due to Royal funeral to be held on April 17.
The funeral of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, will be held on Saturday (April 17), which has forced F1 and the FIA to alter the timing of the sessions on Friday (FP1 and FP2) and Saturday (FP3 and Qualifying) of Imola weekend.
In fact, it is the changes on Saturday, which has resulted in a change of Friday timings – as well – in Imola, since there has to be enough gap maintained between two sessions, as stated in the FIA Sporting Regulations.
The revised timings are:
Friday, FP1 – 11:00-12:00 CET; FP2 – 14:30-15:30 CET
Saturday, FP3 – 11:00–12:00 CET; Qualifying – 14:00–15:00 CET
Along with the timing change, F1 and the FIA will hold a minute’s silence before qualifying on Saturday. There are no changes made for the timing of the grand prix, though. In other news, the sport has announced a ESports Series Women’s Wildcard.
It will be a female-only qualification route to Pro Exhibition, where the F1 teams will be taking on talents for their respective teams. The participants will set the fastest times on the 2020 game across one week between May 3 and 9.
The fastest lap time setter will be invited to take part in Pro Exhibition event, which will air on F1 Youtube, Facebook, Huya channels – it will also showcase the Women Qualifier. The sport notes there have been female participants but none made it to the finals.
