Jaguar Racing has retained Mitch Evans for the 2019/20 FIA Formula E Championship with the Kiwi announced as its first driver.
Evans joined Jaguar in 2016/17 season and has raced for the British Formula E outfit for three seasons now, with a win and four podiums to his name. The Kiwi has done a good job while others around him have lost their seats.
The youngster has signed a multi-year contract with Jaguar to secure a long-term future with the team. “I’m really happy to be staying with the team for a fourth season,” he said.
“I have had a taste for victory driving for Panasonic Jaguar Racing now all I want is more! The team is getting stronger and I feel at home here. I’m determined to push forward with Panasonic Jaguar Racing, building on last season’s success as we hunt down more points, podiums and wins.”
Meanwhile, Jaguar team director James Barclay added: “We are delighted that Mitch has committed his future to Panasonic Jaguar Racing and will remain an integral part of the team for the foreseeable future.
“We have grown together in the last three seasons and developed into a winning team capable of fighting at the front of this highly competitive championship. Together we look forward to writing the next chapter of Jaguar Racing’s history.”
His teammate will be announced on October 2 with several names linked to the seat. After Nelson Piquet Jr left midway in 2018/19, Alex Lynn joined in but he is not certain yet with James Calado a new name on the list.
