Trident Motorsport is pleased to announce the first of two drivers who will make up its 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship line-up. Based in Milan, and with its operational headquarters in Ossona, Italy, next season the team will field the promising American driver Max Esterson. For the 22-year-old born in New York and resident in London, it will be the first full campaign in the category where he has made his debut last weekend in Losail at the Qatar Grand Prix.
The American driver competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship for the first time this year, obtaining a sixth place as best result in his debut race in Bahrain. Esterson began his racing career competing in iRacing esports championships when he was only 10 years old, quickly becoming one of the most highly ranked sim drivers in the world.
In 2021, he moved to the UK for his first season of real racing where in three seasons he achieved 14 wins, 12 poles and 34 podiums in British Formula Ford and GB3, including becoming the first American to win the world renowned Formula Ford Festival. 2024 saw Esterson move up a class to compete in FIA Formula 3, contesting his first full season in an international series.
Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager Trident Motorsport: “We are very pleased to announce that Max Esterson will compete in the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship with Trident Motorsport. He is a driver we met two years ago, we have followed him very carefully and we have seen him making remarkable progress. This past year, Max has proven to be extremely competitive in his debut in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. I am confident that he has all the qualities to do a good job with our technical staff and be competitive in 2025.”
Max Esterson, Trident Motorsport driver, FIA F2 Championship 2025:”I am thrilled to be able to compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Trident Motorsport. Participating in the Losail race last weekend and the Abu Dhabi final are very useful in this regard. I think even in one weekend I have already learned so much about Formula 2, but I’m sure it’s just the tip of the iceberg. Together with the Trident engineering team, I will work hard this winter to make 2025 a great year. I would like to thank the team, my sponsors, my fans and my family for all their work and support that have allowed me to be where I am today.”

Williams Racing Academy Driver Alessandro Giusti will graduate to FIA Formula 3 with MP Motorsport for the 2025 season. Joining the Williams Racing Driver Academy in January this year, Alessandro has had a strong 2024 season in the Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA) where he won in Imola and Paul Ricard and stood on the podium a further five times across the year. The Frenchman finished the season in a closely fought fourth place.
In 2023, Alessandro’s debut season in FRECA saw him achieve three wins, four podiums, and two poles. This followed an impressive 2022 campaign in French Formula 4 where he was crowned champion in only his second year of single-seater racing. The Williams Racing Driver Academy has a proud tradition of supporting young talent, which has most recently seen Academy product Franco Colapinto graduate to an F1 race seat. The Driver Academy supports drivers on every rung of the motorsport ladder, working with them on and off the track to develop the skills necessary to race at the top level.
Alessandro Giusti: “I’m excited to step up to Formula 3 with MP Motorsport. Our first tests together at Jérez and Barcelona were highly promising which is a good sign for my rookie season in the category. It’s my aim to know the team better as we head into the coming season, especially with the new F3-2025 car. I can’t wait to make my F3 debut at Melbourne in March.“
Sven Smeets, Sporting Director, Williams Racing: “It’s rewarding to see Alessandro step up to FIA Formula 3 with MP Motorsport after a strong campaign in the Formula Regional European Championship. His experience so far demonstrates that he has strong foundations needed to compete in F3 and will be able to maximise this opportunity to rapidly strengthen his skills on-track. I look forward to watching him this coming season.”
