Joel Eriksson has taken his fourth win of the season in the third race of  the weekend for FIA ??Formula 3 European championship at the Hungaroring, Hungary. The junior of BMW returns to lead of the championship, while the podium was completed by Prema’s of Callum Ilott and Guanyu Zhou.

Today’s race was decided at the start, as most of the weekend. A good start this time, or at least a not so bad start this time Lando Norris (Carlin) who in the prior race lost many positions due to the start. McLaren junior driver this time only lost one position at the start, racing behind pole sitter Joel Eriksson (Motopark) and Prema’s of Callum Ilott and Guanyu Zhou.

The particularity of the track reduced the possibilities for some fights on track. Norris was the guy that with just two laps remaining tried the maneuver on the Ferrari junior but Zhou defended cutting the chicane, maneuver that is under investigation.

Eriksson got a quiet victory, becoming the only one capable of win a race every weekend which takes him back to the championship lead ahead of Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam) who finished sixth.

Off podium fight ended David Beckmann (Motopark) who again finished fifth. Seventh was the Hitech GP of Jake Hughes, followed by rookie Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing), the Force India junior Jehan Daruvala and Russian Nikita Mazepin (Hitech GP) close the top10.

In the championship battle as we said, Eriksson again is leading with five points ahead of Günther. Ilott is third 21 points behind, while Norris fourth is with 28 points less than the Swede.

The next round of the championship will be held at the Norisring street circuit (Nuremberg) within two weeks.
