Envision Racing, the British team of the Formula E, is preparing to face a new chapter. Just before the last event of the 2025/26 season at ExCeL in London, the team announced the separation from Sébastien Buemi and Joel Eriksson. This restructuring will mark an important change in the team’s formation.
Buemi, champion of the 2015/16 season, has decided to end his career in Formula E after twelve seasons. His record includes 14 victories, 36 podiums, and 17 pole positions, as well as a significant contribution to the Renault e.dams project, which later transformed into Nissan e.dams. Since 2023, he made the leap to Envision, where he helped win the team title and conquered the Monaco E-Prix in 2025.
Buemi’s decision to leave Formula E responds to his intention to focus on his project in the FIA WEC with Toyota, where he has obtained four victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and several world titles. However, he will continue to collaborate with Envision as a consultant to help in the development of the new Gen4 cars.
For his part, Eriksson, who made his debut in Formula E this season, will also leave the team after the London event. Despite being a newcomer, he has stood out with good performances and secured his first podium at the Shanghai E-Prix.
The team director, Sylvain Filippi, has confirmed that the new driver lineup for the 2026/27 season will be revealed after the London race. According to the latest information, one of the two seats has already been assigned to Maximilian Günther, while the second driver is still to be defined.
