Enea Bastianini, Tech 3 KTM rider, has expressed that he is in the process of exploring various options for his future in MotoGP, with possibilities of a surprising relocation for the 2027 season.
Before the Spanish Grand Prix, Bastianini confirmed that he has a two-year contract plus one optional with KTM, which theoretically binds him to the Austrian manufacturer until the end of 2028. However, the rider has indicated that there is a clause in his contract that allows him to leave freely at the end of this season.
After an exceptional 2022 with Gresini, where he achieved four victories, Bastianini has struggled to regain that form with KTM. His performance in Austin has been a glimmer of hope, suggesting he might be returning to his level.
As the rider market accelerates, indications point to the possibility that Bastianini could return to Gresini, thus completing a story that began a couple of years ago. “I am evaluating many things and there is a possibility that a surprise may arise,” Bastianini commented in a press conference in Jerez, hinting that he is seriously considering his options.
The Tech 3 team is in negotiations to switch manufacturers and could leave KTM for 2027, moving to work with Honda. This would imply a reduction in their presence of bikes on the grid, making it inevitable for KTM to part ways with some of their current riders, with Bastianini being one of the most likely candidates to leave.
The upcoming MotoGP season looks promising as riders negotiate their future moves. Bastianini maintains an optimistic attitude, asserting that his future is under constant evaluation.
