Ellinas wins easily the first race, Kvyat suffers with Pirelly tyres

Tio Ellinas has won the first race of the GP3 Series. Tio, who started from pole position, has suffered from the final attacks from Niederhauser, who have finished the race second. Conor Daly, with a very pacific race completed the podium.

The race started with Ellinas doing a great job, also Kvyat who placed himself in fourth position, as well as Sainz Jr., who from the back of the grid recovered a lot of positions, and Kujala, who started last and achieved a 22th place.

Ellinas quicky made a gap. Laps later, Cullen was out of track, but the driver managed to return to it. Sainz Jr. overtook Visoui but his teammate returned the position. Webster retired.
After a dunk brake in Caixa curve, Kvyat began to suffer with the tyres, and then overtook Yelloly on lap nine, one lap later Vainio and Harvey did so, and when Kvyat was ahead of Korjus, in the overtaking maneuver, Fumanelli stood before the two, making Regalia put breaks on, and finally Fumanelli came out of the curve, as well as Korjus, and Zamparelli ahead of Kvyat and Regalia.
Sainz Jr. spent braking to overtake Kvyat and lost a position, the Spanish, then overtook Sa Silva, Kvyat overtook Venturini, and so on up to the twentieth position.
