A summary of how things panned out in Round 7 of the E1 Championship is here.

Round 7 was a historic race as the teams ran the Lotus 49 on fixed setup around Monza combined with the banking. Luke Banister took his first pole of the season and led off the line in race 1. Due to the long straights coupled with the flat out banking, the races turned into a slipstream fest with cars continuously jockeying for position.

Eventually Malaysia’s Naquib Azlan moved to the front of the train and he along with Banister and Mikko Nassi from Safehouse soon pulled a gap after an incident between Inigo Anton and Kalen Chin caused the leading group to break up.

The leading trio were three wide going through the last lap and eventually Mikko Nassi out braked himself at the very last lap of the race causing himself and Banister to run wide. A relieved Naquib crossed the line to record his second win of the year with Banister third and the recovering Inigo Anton from the Philippines in third.

In Race 2 the reverse grid race saw a massive incident as Championship leader Josh Purwien was taken out at the first corner by Garrido. Joshua Thomas from Australia led the first half of the race before being caught by previous championship leader, Muhammad Ibrahim from Team Flash and Naquib Azlan.

Ibrahim was able to reel off consecutive fast laps just after the pitstop to take a 2 second lead, which he would hold on to the flag to register his fifth win of the season. Naquib was second with Thomas third. Ibrahim now leads the championship by 12 points from Josh Purwien in second and Muhammad Aleef in third.
