E1 Championship: Summary of Season 2’s Round 6 at Le Mans

E1 Championship

A summary of how things panned out in Round 6 of the E1 Championship is here.

The Round 6 of season two was a joker round and as in previous rounds with format changes, there was drama from start to finish. There was drama on track and off track with close racing followed with an exclusion for the championship leader.

Race 1 was a reverse grid of championship positions, however the championship leader could not take up the grid as a glitch prevented him from entering the server. At the start, Malaysia’s Naquib Azlan had a rocket start and cleaned the first few laps to take the lead. He would grow that led to four seconds before a slow down penalty meant he could fall back into the clutches of Muhammad Aleef from Singapore.

They would battle it hard around the last lap of Le Mans with the lead exchanging three times. Aleef would make the decisive move around the outside of Naquib at the Porsche curves to take his first win of the season. Australia’s Josh Purwien from Black Arts Racing would follow the duo home in third.

In race 2, India’s Ibrahim was able to join the server to start from the back and he drove cleanly and fast to soon make his way to the front. He then entered into a battle with teammate Aleef over the last three laps. They swapped positions constantly and it was Ibrahim who just held on over the last lap to take the win from Aleef. It was Team Flash’s second one, two of the year. Black Arts Racing Purwien was again third on the road.

However after race 2, Ibrahim was excluded for post race comments that brought the sport into disrepute. This now means Josh Purwien leads the championship from Aleef with Ibrahim in third.
