McLaren junior Alex Dunne has signed up with Rodin Motorsport – completing its line-up – for his first full season in FIA F2 Championship.

Rodin Motorsport is pleased to announce the signing of talented Irish racing driver Alex Dunne to their FIA Formula 2 team for the upcoming 2025 season. His announcement completes the team’s exciting line up, alongside previously confirmed Christian Mansell, as the duo and team look to build on their 2024 season in the sophomore season of the new spec Formula 2 car.

Dunne has demonstrated an impressive track record; beginning his single-seater career in Spanish and ADAC Formula 4, before joining the British and Italian F4 Championships for the 2022 season, in what was an incredibly successful year for the Irishman. A dominant campaign in British F4saw him crowned champion, picking up eleven wins, eleven poles, seventeen podiums, and 412 points on his way to that title, as well as runner-up honours in Italian F4.

In 2023, Dunne stepped up to the GB3 Championship, rounding out the season as the Rookie Champion and second overall before moving to FIA Formula 3 for 2024. That season also saw him join the McLaren Driver Development programme, taking up the role as NEOM McLaren Formula E reserve and development driver. In addition to his achievements, Alex participated in post-season testing with Rodin Motorsport in Abu Dhabi last year, where he enjoyed a solid few days and adapted quickly to the Formula 2 car.

Alex Dunne expressed his enthusiasm about joining Rodin Motorsport, stating, “I’m pleased to be able to confirm my plans for the2025 season, which will see me joining Rodin Motorsport and participating in Formula 2. I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and thankful for everyone’s support in getting me to this stage – I can’t wait to hit the ground running.”

“We are delighted to welcome Alex to Rodin Motorsport,” said Benn Huntingford, Sporting Director and F2 Team Manager. “Alex’s talent, dedication, and passion for racing align perfectly with our team’s values and ambitions. We are confident that he will make a significant impact in the upcoming season and know that he is capable of enjoying a really great season with the us.”
