Edoardo Mortara was the winner for this first DTM race in Hungaroring. Jamie Green, who was next to him in first grid row, arrived a second away to the finish as nine seconds further was Miquel Molina to complete podium.
Edoardo Mortara (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline)is getting closer to the lead of a championship that seems will be decided on last race in Hockenheim. Marco Wittmann (BMW Team RMG), championship leader, is just ten points in the lead from the Italian.
As Marco Wittmann was tenth on qualifying an Mortara on pole was something that the Audi driver had to take profit from. And so he did, maintaining the lead all race long with a great start.
The start was so clean until race 2 Marco Wittmann (BMW Team RMG) received a back touch and left the track, making him into last position. Wittmann could earn three positions thanks to this incident.
In front, Green (Audi Sport Team Rosberg) was getting closer to Mortara, who knew how to handle the pressure and not allowing the overtake although the british was making the moves. Behind, other movements brought more life to the race, as for example Vietoris overtaking Ekström and Farfus. Mücke driver finished eighteenth.
The classification for the race could not hide Audi’s monopoly, imposing themselves in a single-coloured podium and being Wittmann in seventh position the first to get to the chequered flag not being an Audi.
Second race in Hungary will take place tomorrow and will set the arrival to the last round of the championship, in Hockenheim.
