Dries Van Langendonck, champion of an intense British F4 race

#51 - Dries Van Langendonck - Rodin Motorsport

The McLaren driver, Dries Van Langendonck, has achieved victory in the last race of the British Formula 4 this weekend, despite starting the competition from the pit lane.

His strategy of starting the race on slick tires proved successful and allowed him to reclaim the championship lead with this second victory of the season.

Before the race began, rain had left the track wet, and all drivers took to the starting grid on wet tires. However, at the end of the formation lap, a good number of participants, including Van Langendonck and Tommy Harfield, decided to enter the pit and switch to slick tires, thus placing Van Langendonck at an initial disadvantage and starting from the pit lane.

During the early moments of the race, drivers on slick tires struggled to gain positions. Meanwhile, Adam Al Azhari, who started from pole, maintained an intense battle with Ethan Lennon at the front, while Van Langendonck tried to carve his way through the top twenty.

An incident involving Haarni Sadiq caused the safety car to be deployed, regrouping the pack and improving the chances for drivers who had started from the pit lane.

After the restart, Van Langendonck and Harfield showcased great competitiveness. They managed to climb into the top 15 before Harfield suffered a slight impact that forced him to return to the pit for repairs to his front wing, just before another safety car was called.

With only five minutes remaining, the race resumed and Van Langendonck began a spectacular comeback. When the safety car came in, he was running in tenth position, but quickly climbed to fourth place, before overtaking Ethan Jeff-Hall and, subsequently, Al Azhari to claim the top spot in an impressive maneuver.

The battle for seventh position intensified when George Proudford-Nalder made a mistake and ended up against the wall, forcing the race to continue without the need for another safety car.

Kit Belofsky achieved his first podium with a commendable second place, finishing 4.018 seconds behind Van Langendonck, and Cole Hewetson completed the podium.

The competitiveness of the race highlighted the difficulties posed by wet tires, as Harfield recovered to fifth place, despite having to make a pit stop to change the wing, finishing ahead of Ethan Carney and Vegard Klemetsen.

Other notable drivers included Chiara Battig, who recovered and finished seventh, surpassing Al Azhari, and Joseph Smith in tenth place. At the end of the race, Jeff-Hall could not advance beyond thirteenth position.
