Race winner Andrea Dovizioso has stated that he didn’t expect to perform that good this weekend, and that he’s going to keep focusing in giving his best every weekend rather than getting obsessed with the title fight.
Andrea Dovizioso has won today his second win in a row. The Italian rider is only seven points behind the top of the championship standings and is becoming one of the main men to watch
When he’s been asked his general feeling after the race, he admitted to be “Really surprised, nobody expected to repeat what we did in Mugello. We have had a test here and the feeling was really bad. During this weekend, we’ve been focused on riding on the heat and with the used tyre. This has allowed me, in the second half of the race, to push a little bit more, overtake some riders. The lap time wasn’t so good but we were able to be consistent and have a good pace in the last laps. It was an strange race, I won without pushing 100%.”
Despite having won the last two races, he still feels that it isn’t going to be easy on the upcoming races, and said that “I think that every weekend will go on a different way, so I’m not going to put pressure on myself and think too much about the championship. We’re going to be focused in working to improve the bike every weekend. This has been a strange weekend for everybody and I’m happy about how we worked, but anything can change in the next tracks.”
Finally, he’s been asked about his chances on the very next race, in Assen, but he insisted that “I don’t wanna think what can I do in Assen, I didn’t expect to do anything here and I won. I’ll just try to improve and work to be competitive in all races.”
