Doriane Pin, the 2025 F1 Academy champion, has expressed her hope that the recent test at the wheel of a Formula 1 vehicle with Mercedes will open new opportunities for her within the championship. The French driver stated that achieving a place in the top motorsport competition has become a real goal, more than just a simple dream.
Pin joined the Mercedes Junior Team in 2024, starting her career in an all-female racing series. After winning the championship last year, she was named development driver for the Brackley team.
During April 2026, Doriane sat at the wheel of the Mercedes W12, a single-seater from the 2021 season. “During the test, I drove in Formula 1 again, and I hope this can open more doors for me in the future,” Pin commented during her participation in the Mercedes Nu Silver Arrows Show event.
Additionally, the young driver shared her immediate plans, with her sights set on her next competition in Le Castellet in three weeks for the European Le Mans Series.
Doriane noted that her experience with Mercedes is not just a turning point but the beginning of a new phase. “Since I was nine years old, Formula 1 was a dream; now it’s a real goal. It has been an enriching experience to prove to myself that I can be fast in a Formula 1 car,” Doriane added.
With this test, Pin has made history, becoming the first F1 Academy champion to have the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car and the first woman to test a Mercedes vehicle in this category.
