Doriane Pin, the 2025 F1 Academy champion, has confirmed that Mercedes intends to provide her with a private test in a Formula 1 car. This new phase represents a significant step in her career, in which she has been supported by the Brackley team during her participation in the women’s racing series.
Pin, who recently signed with Mercedes as a development driver for 2026, detailed that her experience in the simulator was very positive. “Yes, he said it,” Pin stated, referring to the words of team principal Toto Wolff during an appearance on the Beyond The Grid podcast. “We had to see how the simulator went and then it was a possible next step. And things went very well, really well, which made them think about giving me the opportunity to have a private test with the real car.”
Pin emphasizes her determination to be ready before the opportunity. “I am very motivated, as my goal is to reach Formula 1,” she added. Currently, while serving as a development driver with Mercedes, she has returned to endurance racing, competing in the LMP2 Pro-Am class following a successful stint with the Iron Dames project.
It is important to remember that the last woman to participate in a F1 race weekend was Susie Wolff with Williams in 2014, while the last driver to complete a private test with an F1 car was Jessica Hawkins with Aston Martin in 2023.
