After a successful Safari Rally Kenya where both drivers achieved a podium finish in their respective categories, Diego Domínguez and Andrea Lafarja are heading to Gran Canaria to take part in the 42nd edition of the Rally Villa de Santa Brígida.
Diego Domínguez and Rogelio Peñate aim to prepare in the best possible way for the Rally Islas Canarias, an event they already contested last year in their first season in the WRC2 category.
The objective of competing in the Rally Villa de Santa Brígida is for the Paraguayan driver to gain more experience on asphalt, a surface on which he has less experience.
Due to the similarity of the asphalt, this rally will serve as a test for the Domínguez–Peñate duo ahead of the world championship event that will take place from April 23 to 26, 2026.
Diego Domínguez (DRIVER): “We’re heading to work at the Rally Villa de Santa Brígida as preparation for the Rally Islas Canarias, since we haven’t competed on asphalt for a long time, dating back to the Rally Japan. We’ll focus on finding the right setup, continuing to improve, and adding mileage, which will be very important for me given that I don’t have as much experience on this surface”.
Rogelio Peñate (CODRIVER): ”It’s a rally we really need to make the most of, since the roads are practically the same tarmac we’ll be racing on in the Rally Islas Canarias. So we have to focus on fine-tuning the setup, which is the main goal of this event, along with logging important kilometers for Diego, who doesn’t have much experience on tarmac and wants to prove he can be just as competitive as he was this weekend in Kenya”.
Teo Martín (TEAM MANAGER): “We approach the Rally Villa de Santa Brígida as a test ahead of the Rally Islas Canarias. The priority is for Diego to continue gaining experience on asphalt and arrive at the world championship event in the best possible condition”.
