Details released for MotoE series along with five-race 2019 calendar

The calendar for the inaugural 2019 FIM Enel MotoE World Cup season has been released by Dorna during the San Marino MotoGP weekend along with few other details.

The MotoE electric series will kick-start during the Spanish GP at Jerez during May 3-5 weekend followed by the French GP weekend at Le Mans on May 17-19. The series will return after a month’s break during the German GP weekend on July 5-7.

The penultimate race of the short season will take place during Austrian GP weekend at Red Bull Ring on August 9-11, with the finale taking place during the San Marino GP at Misano on September 13-15.

The pre-season test dates were also released with the first one to take place on November 23-25 in 2018 followed by March 13-15 in 2019 and April 23-25. Dorna clarified that the races will span from seven to ten laps depending on the circuits.

The teams with two riders are Tech 3 Racing, LCR Team, Pramac Racing, Esponsorama Racing, Gresini Racing and Angel Nieto Team with the single entry teams being Sepang International Circuit, Marc VDS Racing Team, Ajo Motorsport, Pons Racing, Dynavolt Intact GP and SIC58 Squadra Corse.

The riders will be announced during the Aragon GP weekend with one likely name already confirmed to be recently announced Aprilia test rider Bradley Smith. Few details of the electric bike provided by Italian manufacturer Energica Motor Company was also released:

“The racing-spec 2019 Energica Ego Corsa has a number of adjustments to the production model. The weight is one of the biggest changes, with the racing machine streamlined by an incredible 20kg – lowering the weight 260kg.

The engine power will be up to 120kw with the torque being 200N.m and a maximum speed up to 270km/h with the battery pack of 20kw.”
