Louis Deletraz is the quickest man of the first day of the FIA F2 post-season testing at the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi. He is followed by Alexander Albon and Norman Nato for the 3 quickest times of the day.
The morning session saw glorious sun over the track, with pretty hot track conditions. While the evening session saw the sun set over the track, heading into cooler conditions and artificial light. In the morning we saw a lot of drivers doing race simulations, especially in the second half of the session.
Lando Norris set his quickest time about halfway through the session, to then concentrate on the longer runs. Aitken and Deletraz where right behind the briton, followed by Albon, Ferrucci, Russell, Ghiotto, Nato, Latifi and Markelov who completed the morning’s top 10. Nick de Vries was the only unlucky driver in the session, not being able to get any laps in (2) due to engine trouble, the dutchman had to follow teammate Sean Gelael‘s action from the box.
The evening saw Louis Deletraz taking over the lead from Norris, setting a beautiful timed lap at 1:48.282 less than a tenth ahead of Albon and Nato who were right behind him. We saw ore action, especially from Nyck de Vries who finally had the opportunity to run some quick laps. We saw a lot of drivers trying to beat Deletraz‘s time, drivers of the likes of Ferrucci, Albon, Nato, etc.. but none could get close enough to dethrone the swiss from the top of the timesheet.
Deletraz ends on top of day 1, followed by Albon and Nato. Ferrucci, de Vries and Norris all very close behind each other make the top 6, while Russell, Ghiotto, Markelov and Maini complete the top 10 of the evening session. Which is eventually also the top 10 of day 1 here at the Yas Marina Circuit.
