Nyck De Vries set the fastest time in free-practice of FIA F2 in Baku ahead of Jordan King and Luca Ghiotto in action-packed session.
Only one driver change is to be taken in consideration : Sergey Sirotkin replaces Alexander Albon in ART GP after the Thai hurt himself at training.
A few minutes in, Nyck De Vries (Rapax) missed the braking point at T8 and went in the run-off area. He was forced to reverse to get back on track.
The Virtual Safety car entered on track with 30 min to go as Nabil Jeffri (Trident) had to stop on track following a touch with the wall. During that period, Sirotkin stopped on track, involving a red flag.
Luca Ghiotto (Russian Time) was at the time the fastest of the field ahead of Artem Markelov (Russian Time) and Nobuharu Matsushita (ART GP). The session resumed with 15 minutes to go.
After his first flying lap which put him up to 4th, Oliver Rowland (DAMS) missed the braking point at t1 and hit the wall, implying once again the VSC to get on track. After a few minutes, the session resumed and Nyck De Vries claimed the fastest time. Once the chequered flag waved, King (MP Motorsport) was forced to stop on track.
Nyck De Vries set the fastest time ahead of King and Ghiotto. Sette Camara, Fuoco, Boschung, Leclerc, Latifi, Nato and Malja completed the top 10.
