Alessandro de Tullio has achieved pole position in double session at Barber Motorsports Park, preparing for the third and fourth races of the 2026 Indy Nxt season.
The Italian driver shone in the second qualifying group, clocking a time that was 0.0848 seconds faster than his immediate rival, Nikita Johnson. Meanwhile, the championship leader, Max Taylor, led the first group, qualifying in second position on the grid for the first race in Alabama.
The qualifying session was interrupted by a red flag after Niels Koolen went off track with cold tires, getting stuck in the grass. After a brief delay, the session resumed with Tymek Kucharczyk setting a good initial pace.
Alongside Kucharczyk, Salvador de Alba and Taylor alternated provisional pole positions until Taylor achieved a time of 1m10.5933s, immediately improving it afterward with 1m10.4758s, which set a new record.
For his part, de Tullio positioned himself as the leader in the second group, remaining at the front for most of the session. Johnson briefly claimed provisional pole with a time that surpassed Taylor’s, but de Tullio countered with a second quick lap, thus consolidating his pole for both races.
Enzo Fittipaldi was the second fastest in the first group, climbing to fourth position on the grid with a time only 0.1893s slower than Taylor. The Polish Kucharczyk finished in sixth position, behind Bryce Aron and ahead of Max Garcia and Jordan Missig.
Drivers Myles Rowe and Juan Manuel Correa, who dominated the Friday practice session, completed the top 10. Meanwhile, Lochie Hughes of Andretti Global, currently fourth in the championship, struggled with a complicated qualifying and could only achieve 19th position.
