Daniil Kvyat will contest in Formula 3

Daniil Kvyat will contest the remaining rounds of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with Carlin following a successful debut in the series in Hockenheim. The 19-year-old Russian qualified on pole on his debut weekend at Hockenheim earlier this month and went on to take a third place in race three of the weekend. Kvyat will drive a fifth Volkswagen powered Dallara alongside team mates Harry Tincknell, Jordan King, Nicholas Latifi and Jann Mardenborough.

“It’s great news that I get to do the rest of the championship,” said Kvyat. “I really like the series and the first race was a great experience and gave me reason to do the rest of the season. I think it will help me develop as a driver, because the F3 car is great to drive, F3 is a very competitive series and I’m doing it with a competitive team which will give me an advantage. I’m going to be fighting for the high places, this is my goal.”

Team Principal Trevor Carlin commented: “We’re delighted that Helmut Marko and the Red Bull Junior programme are continuing our successful relationship which stretches back to 2006. Dany was extremely impressive in his first weekend of F3 and I know both he and the team are very keen to build on that further with the benefit of a little more time and experience.”

Round 4 of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship will take place at Brands Hatch this weekend.
