Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull Racing) is the fastest in the second free practice of the Mexican Grand Prix. The Aussie is followed by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes AMG) and Red Bull Racing teammate Max Verstappen.
The second session at the Autodromo de los Hermanos Rodriguez started of with a red flag due to debris on track. The debris came for Romain Grosjean’s Haas after the Frenchman spinned on the pit straight, the car gets going again, but parts of the car’s floor are shredded on track.
At the re-start of the session, Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren Honda) is stopped at the end of the pitlane, reporting his car is going sideways. The cause of this would later be revealed as a loose wheel and the Belgian is good to go again. In the first half of the session we do see a lot of drivers making mistakes, Carlos Sainz (Renault) and Lance Stroll (Williams) for example, but title contender Lewis Hamilton is also one of them.
Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) is forced to cut his session short after an unknown problem, while Sebastian Vettel (Scuderia Ferrari) is the victim of his extinguisher going of in his cockpit.
The rest of the session will have no major incidents and will see Daniel Ricciardo take the top spot, followed by Lewis Hamilton and teammate Max Verstappen. The follow the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raïkkönen in 4th and 5th, in front of Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes AMG) in 6th.
Fernando Alonso (McLaren Honda) finishes in 7th, followed by Sergio Perez (Force India), Nico Hülkenberg (Renault) and Esteban Ocon (Force India) who complete the top 10.
