Dan Ticktum stays in Formula E with new team Fortescue Zero

The British driver Dan Ticktum will continue competing in Formula E in the new Gen4 era after signing a contract with Fortescue Zero, the team that has replaced the former DS Penske team.

Ticktum, who has won two E-Prix, will be part of Jaguar’s satellite team during the 2026-27 season, alongside Taylor Barnard, who was already part of the team.

After five seasons racing for CUPRA KIRO, Ticktum has managed to revive his career in Formula E, although his chances of continuing seemed limited after KIRO decided not to retain him for the upcoming season.

After bouncing back during the last seasons and winning a race, Ticktum had expressed concern over how perceptions of his personality might affect his job opportunities. Now, with less than a month until the start of preseason testing in Jarama, he has secured his spot with Fortescue Zero.

“What I like about Fortescue Zero Racing is that they want to do things differently,” Ticktum stated. “Racing with the team in their first season is a great honor. Being part of building a team from scratch is exciting, especially with such a long history of competition and victories.”

Fortescue Zero, an Australian mining company, entered the motorsport world in 2022 when it acquired Williams Advanced Engineering. This company had acted as a technical supplier in Formula E for several seasons, providing batteries and rapid acceleration equipment.

Recently, their acquisition of Jay Penske’s team was announced, which will compete with Fortescue Zero in Formula E. Penske, after his collaboration with DS Automobiles, had been assessing his options for the Gen4 era.

“Dan is a fierce competitor. He is fast, reckless, and a proven winner, not afraid to make it tough,” stated Jim Wright, director of Fortescue Zero Racing. “We want that hunger in our garage, combined with the discipline and teamwork necessary to achieve results.”
