Curtain falls on 2024 FIA Motorsport Games with closing ceremony in Valencia

VALENCIA, SPAIN (Monday, October 28, 2024) –  The curtain fell on the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games yesterday evening when the closing ceremony was staged at Valencia’s City of Arts & Sciences, concluding four days of action in and around the Spanish city.

The third edition of the multidisciplinary event was unquestionably the biggest yet. It brought together 646 athletes representing 82 nations to race for medals in 26 categories, with competition staged at a variety of venues.

Host nation Spain emerged as the top performer, earning a record haul of six gold medals at its home event. A further 12 nations struck gold in 2024, while a total of 26 left the Games with at least one medal.

In addition to being confirmed as overall winner and then best-performing European nation, Spain also scooped the AllStar Trophy and the NewStar Trophy. Further regional trophies were awarded to Mozambique (Africa), the Republic of Korea (Asia), Brazil (Americas), and Qatar (MENA).

“With this event, we have definitely proven the concept. We’ve had 26 nations winning medals from six continents. I have no doubt that the next edition of the FIA Motorsport Games to be held in 2026 will be an even bigger success,” said Stephane Ratel, SRO Motorsports Group, Founder and CEO.

“I need to congratulate Manuel Aviñó (FIA Vice President for Sport Europe and President of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation). You not only helped put this event together but, as proven by Spain topping the medal count, proved that the commitment of the FIA ASNs is essential.

“To everyone here tonight, you are our ambassadors in your 82 countries. You are the ones who are speaking to the media, speaking to your fellow drivers, speaking to your FIA ASNs – by speaking to everyone and telling them how great the FIA Motorsport Games is.

“You are all going to contribute to making it stronger, and I look forward to seeing you all and many more in 2026.”

A successful third edition of the event brought a total attendance of 49,000 to experience the FIA Motorsport Games. They witnessed a unique line-up of competition, extending from grassroots racing to top-level professional motorsport.

“Mass participation is at the heart of the FIA Motorsport Games, and with 646 athletes from 82 different nations coming to compete here in Valencia, it is a fantastic demonstration of the passion and dedication we share across the world for our great sport,” said Carmelo Sanz De Barros, the FIA Senate President.

“As the FIA, under the leadership of our President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, we are fully committed to making motorsport more accessible to people from all backgrounds, and it is here that we can see the amazing diversity among our members that is growing every day.

“With ages ranging from eight all the way to 70, and over 100 women and girls taking to the tracks and rally stages this weekend, we hope the Games has served as an inspiration, showing that motorsport is something for everybody to enjoy.

“Lastly, it remains for me to give thanks to all the incredible marshals, volunteers and officials without whom this event, and all motorsport, would simply not be possible.

“Thanks to our host ASN and its President Manuel Aviñó, who has been instrumental in making the event possible, and to Stephane Ratel and his team at SRO for bringing the Games to life here in Valencia, together with the many FIA staff working hard behind the scenes.”

In closing, the FIA and SRO Motorsports Group wish to thank all 82 competing nations, each and every competitor, and everyone involved with making the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games such a success.
