Ciao Collet will make his Formula E debut at Portland double-header for Nissan after sudden illness to Oliver Rowland.

Nissan’s Oliver Rowland has had his championship hopes come to a premature end, as the Brit is forced to miss this weekend’s 2024 Hankook Portland E-Prix. The 31-year-old Yorkshireman has had an incredible Season 10, and currently sits fourth in the Drivers’ World Championship, but is unable to race in Portland due to illness.

Rowland has picked up six podiums and a victory in Misano over his impressive campaign this season, with this being his most successful year in the all-electric championship to date. His absence will mean a likely three-way fight for the championship crown between Jaguar TCS Racing’s Nick Cassidy, TAG Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein and Jaguar’s Mitch Evans.

As a result of Rowland missing the double-header weekend in the USA, Nissan have called upon their reserve and simulator driver Caio Collet. The 22-year-old Brazilian will make his Formula E debut in place of unwell Rowland, subject to administrative checks. Collet has experience in the GEN3, taking part in various test sessions in Misano and Berlin earlier this season with the Japanese manufacturer.
