The F1 driver Franco Colapinto, who races for the Alpine team, recently narrated his experience following a robbery he suffered in Milan during the summer vacation. Colapinto described the incident as “the worst day of his life” after thieves stole his clothes and passport.
The young Argentine, 23 years old, initially shared the news through an Instagram message on August 6. Moreover, he revealed more details about the episode in an interview with ESPN.
Colapinto explained that he was a victim of a robbery while enjoying dinner at a restaurant he likes. “They stole everything from me,” he commented. “I wished they had only taken the mate [an Argentine drink]. I was left with nothing, not even my wallet, my passport, or my clothes. A total disaster!”
After informing the local authorities, Colapinto returned to his residence in Monaco. Curiously, the situation was partially resolved shortly after arriving when he received a call from the Italian police informing him that they had found his wallet and documents.
“We filed a police report and then returned to Monaco. When I got to Monaco, I got a call from an Italian number (+39). They told me they had found my wallet with the documents. I had to go back to Milan to recover everything. I drove 1,200 kilometers in one day. I had never spent so much on gas,” he added with laughter.
Colapinto currently sits in twelfth position in the drivers’ championship with a total of 19 points, and continues to prepare for the upcoming events of the season.
