The well-known YouTuber Cleetus McFarland, also known as Garrett Mitchell, has signed a two-year contract with Richard Childress Racing (RCR) to participate partially in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts (NOAPS). This collaboration will culminate with his debut at Rockingham, one of the most challenging circuits in the championship.
McFarland will drive the RCR number 33 Chevrolet, a historic team that recently won the NOAPS drivers’ championship with Jesse Love. Additionally, RCR holds six NASCAR Cup titles, all with the legendary figure of Dale Earnhardt.
The new agreement for McFarland initially includes three races for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, featuring key events such as the Daytona International Speedway and the Talladega Superspeedway. The team will have the support of Tommy’s Express, which perfectly aligns with the driver’s speed and performance philosophy.
“Taking the opportunity to debut in NOAPS with such a legendary team as Richard Childress Racing is a dream come true,” McFarland said. “It’s a great honor, and I am very grateful for the chance to learn from such respected professionals.”
McFarland has been gaining experience in stock car racing, including his debut in ARCA in Daytona, where he had an accident but later managed to place in the top ten in several races. Recently, he debuted in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, but ended the race shortly after getting on track.
The first race at Rockingham, titled North Carolina Education Lottery 250, will take place on Saturday, April 4, coinciding with the Easter weekend. Last year, Kasey Kahne drove the number 33 vehicle in this same competition.
