Cleetus McFarland, known YouTuber and amateur driver, is awaiting approval of his license to compete in the NASCAR O’Reilly race scheduled for April 25 at Talladega Superspeedway. McFarland is hopeful that his efforts over the weekend at Rockingham Speedway will be enough to secure this license.

In his podcast Bald Eagles, McFarland stated: “Now we have to wait for the approval for Talladega, which will come (on Tuesday), to see if I’ve been approved to race with the O’Reilly.” Despite his desire to compete, the driver acknowledges that the decision is entirely in NASCAR’s hands.

Furthermore, McFarland emphasized that he doesn’t mind if he receives the approval, as his goal has always been to participate in the summer races at Daytona and Talladega. “I haven’t ruined anyone’s race. Whatever they come to say is fine. I’ve never thought they should validate me,” he said.

After a tough race at NOAPS, where he finished six laps behind, the executive of Richard Childress Racing, Danny Lawrence, expressed doubts about whether McFarland has demonstrated enough to obtain the license to compete at superspeedway. “They will look at everything, and they might even ask us to run another race before Daytona and Talladega,” added Lawrence.

In case he does not receive approval for the NOAPS race, Cleetus McFarland intends to participate in the ARCA Racing Series event at Talladega that same April weekend.
