Charles Leclerc tops first day of testing

Charles Leclerc and Ferrari set the fastest time of the first day of testing in Hungary.

In the very last minutes of the day, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) set the fastest time of the first day of testing at the Hungaroring. The F2 leader signed a 1:17.746, which is 88 thousandths faster than Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) who topped the morning session.

The Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas and George Russell followed. The Finn spent the day testing the 2018 Pirelli tyres while the GP3 leader was the most productive young driver with 119 laps covered.

Lance Stroll (Williams) was 5^th, 2 seconds away from the Monegasque. Nikita Mazepin (Force India) was 6^th only running in the morning while Lucas Auer (Force India) ended 9^th of the day.

Nicholas Latifi (Renault) was 7^th ahead of Sean Gelael (Toro Rosso). Santino Ferrucci (Haas) was 10th ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) and Gustav Malja (Sauber).
