Ferrari Driver Academy member since last winter and after a private testing of the 2014 Ferrari, Charles Leclerc will make his debuts in a Formula One week-end.


Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc, Haas F1 Team and Ferrari development driver, will drive during five FP1 this season with Haas F1 behind Esteban Gutierrez’ wheel. After a first F1 test in Maranello a few weeks ago, Leclerc impressed the Scuderia which decided to promote him faster than planned. In a press release from Haas F1, he says:

“This is a fantastic opportunity to get seat time in a Formula One car and I can’t thank Haas F1 Team and Esteban enough.

I’m honored by the faith Haas F1 Team and Ferrari have in me. This is an important step toward my ultimate goal of becoming a Formula One driver.”

Leclerc will make his debuts during a F1 week-end during the British Grand Prix. He will take part to four other FP1 sessions in Hungary, in Germany, in Malaysia and in Abu Dhabi. He will always drive in Esteban Gutierrez’ car who will be his mentor following Günther Steiner’s words.

The 18-year-old Monegasque was fourth in the last FIA F3 European championship and he is now GP3 Series driver for ART GP, he is currently leading the championship after a victory in his first race in the series in Spain.
