Legacy Motor Club (LMC) has announced an important change in its team, with the promotion of Chais Elaison as the new crew chief of vehicle number 42, which is driven by John Hunter Nemechek. This decision takes effect immediately a few months before the end of the season.
Elaison, who has been working as a strategy manager and performance engineer for the past year at LMC, expresses his gratitude for this opportunity and is excited to lead the team in the last eight major races of the 2026 season. ‘I have learned a lot working with this group and I am looking forward to applying this experience both in the final phase of this year and in the preparation for the 2027 season,’ he assured.
After this change, Elaison will also be alongside Nemechek, as in 2027 he will become the new driver of car 42, replacing Nemechek.
Previously, Travis Mack held the position of crew chief, with a long career in NASCAR, including over 200 races as a team director. Mack has been a key factor in the growth of LMC, contributing to the success of the program and facilitating Daniel Suarez‘s first victory at Sonoma Raceway in 2022.
Jimmie Johnson, co-owner of LMC, highlighted that internal promotion is crucial for the growth of the organization. ‘We are excited to see what Chais can achieve with the #42 team in these last races of the season and next year,’ Johnson commented.
