Lewis Hamilton led the way by a goodish margin in a dry FP3 of F1 Canadian GP as Max Verstappen cut Mercedes duo with George Russell in third.
After Friday running in mixed weather conditions, it remained dry all-through FP3 in F1 Canadian GP which saw an early red flag stoppage due to an incident involving Stake F1 Team’s Zhou Guanyu, who beached himself at Turn 2.
He ran over a bump and as he took the corner, he lost control to tap the barrier on his rear to end his session. It was not the cleanest of runs with several drivers having off moments at Turn 9 and other parts including the final corner.
It was Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton on top in FP3 of F1 Canadian GP with a 1m12.549s lap, as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen slotted in second in his final attempt after the chequered flag. He even touched the ‘Wall of Champions’ but escaped any damage.
He dropped George Russell to third to disallow the Mercedes 1-2 bandwagon. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll improved on his last attempt to be fourth from Australian pair of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Visa Cash App RB’s Daniel Ricciardo.
The other McLaren of Lando Norris was seventh with Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso in eighth ahead of Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the Top 10. The Monegasque complained of being too slow in the session.
His teammate Carlos Sainz was only 12th after his late lap behind Haas’ Kevin Magnussen. The sole remaining Stake F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas was 13th from Williams’ Logan Sargeant, with Visa Cash App RB’s Yuki Tsunoda down to 15th.
Alpine’s Pierre Gasly was 16th after having to aplogise to Sainz for impeding at one point. There was traffic mayhem where a lot of drivers did come in other’s way. There were some investigations done, with the drivers cleared of any action.
Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg was 17th from Williams’ Alexander Albon, who tapped the wall in the final corner and damaged his suspension. His drive to the pits has been put under investigation, as Alpine’s Esteban Ocon was 19th from Gunayu.
